UAE and Saudi Arabia stand tall as two of the foremost cyber-secure nations in the Middle East, as revealed in a recent analysis by G4S. This study involved insights from more than 1,700 Chief Security Officers (CSOs) from leading global firms, collectively representing a revenue of $20 trillion (AED 73.5tn) for the year 2022.

The data suggests that CSOs in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia anticipate encountering some of the most minimal regional rates of varied security challenges. These challenges encompass internal concerns like potential sabotage, threats to employees, and incidents of industrial espionage. On the other hand, external vulnerabilities might include unauthorized intrusions, attempts by competitors to disrupt operations, and theft or fraud concerning company assets.

Multiple factors contribute to the exemplary cybersecurity standing of the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The list includes decisive policy measures, comprehensive cybersecurity infrastructure strategies, and innovative applications of technology.

Mohamed Kamal, who is the Regional Managing Director for G4S in the Middle East, emphasized the superior cyber safety standards of the UAE. He pointed out that their policy actions in this domain have been both strategic and effective. He also highlighted that both the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia possess some of the most fortified cybersecurity frameworks in the region. Kamal added that the findings from the study bolster the idea that CSOs in the UAE exhibit a progressive mindset, particularly in terms of harmonizing cybersecurity measures with physical security protocols and technological utilization.

It’s worth noting that the Middle East has frequently been in the crosshairs of cybercriminal activities. Over recent times, there have been instances of significant cyber intrusions targeting both governmental bodies and commercial enterprises in the region.

The proactive stance on cybersecurity by the UAE and Saudi Arabia offers a blueprint for other nations in the Middle East, illustrating how they can fortify themselves against digital threats.
